What can I drive with a MC driving licence?

Usually called a B-Double or Road Train, an MC multi combination vehicle is defined as a vehicle towing more than 1 trailer. Once you’ve been issued an MC licence, you’re legally able to drive any heavy combination unit towing one or more trailers — each having a gross vehicle mass of greater than 9 tonnes. You must have held an HR or HC licence for at least 12 months to be eligible for your MC truck licence.

With the MC licence class, all training and assessment is done with us as an accredited truck driving school.

The Assessment for the MC licence is competency-based and is a combination of written assessment of knowledge and practical demonstration of skills as opposed to a practical driving test with an examiner.

Our experienced instructors train and assess you to an industry standard as outlined in the unit of competency for Multi Combination TLI4006 — Drive a Multi Combination Vehicle.

What do I need to obtain my MC Licence

You can undertake a MC Course at any time after obtaining a HC Licence.

However, The RMS will not issue you with an MC Licence until you have held your HR or HC for a continuous period of 12 months.

There is no written knowledge test to undertake at RMS, the theory is done with us as part of your MC Course.

You must successfully complete theory and practical assessments before a statement of attainment can be issued.

You must lodge your application for your licence, in person, at any RMS Customer Service Centre with your Statement of Attainment together with you current drivers licence.

If you currently have a Medical condition on your Licence, you need a medical certificate for the class of licence you are applying for.
